What is Lip Neutralization and Lip Blushing?
Lip blushing adds color and definition to the lips. The treatment is done to create a natural-looking blush on the lips, and the color can range from a light pink to a deeper red depending on the individual's preference. Lip blushing can help to enhance the natural color of the lips and make them look more plump and full. The pigments used are specifically chosen to match the natural color of the lips, and the procedure is done in a subtle way to avoid an artificial look.
Lip neutralization is a treatment that is done to correct the color of the lips. It is usually done to neutralize or lighten dark or discolored lips. The treatment involves the use of a neutralizing pigment to neutralize the unwanted color and create a more natural-looking lip color. Lip neutralization can also help to correct uneven lip color, and it is often done in combination with lip blushing to create a more natural-looking, symmetrical lip shape. The pigments used are specifically chosen to neutralize the unwanted color and create a more natural-looking lip color.
Pre-care Instructions
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: If you’ve had any history of cold sores/blisters/herpes (even as a child) or if you’re unsure, you must have your physician prescribe you with Zovirax, Valtrex 3-5 days or L-Lysine 1000mg 3-5 days prior to your appointment or get medication from your doctors 3-5 days prior and 3 days after the procedure and repeat on all visits****
- Exfoliate and moisturize your lips with lip scrub and Aquaphor 3-5 days prior to the procedure.
- Avoid fish oils, Advil, Vitamin E or any other blood thinning medications for at least 1 week.
- Avoid coffee and alcohol 2-3 days prior.
- If you have previous lip fillers, you must wait a minimum of 4 weeks in order to get lip blush.
- Hydrate with water.
After-care Instructions
DO's
- Apply light pressure on lips with a clean tissue to remove any lymph
- Apply ointment on lips several times a day. Keep lips moist at all the time.
- No kissing, rubbing or friction on the treated area.
- Avoid oily, spicy and heavily seasoned food and drink with a straw. After every meal, gently rinse and clean lips with water and pat dry, then re-apply ointment.
- Do Not pick or rub your lips and let the peeling happen naturally. Continue keeping your lips moist!
NO’s
- No increased sweating
- No smoking
- No swimming
- No hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
- No Sun tanning or Salon tanning
- No exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals
- No laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and any cream containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area.
- No Picking, peeling or scratching of the treatment area.
- No drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds.
- No makeup on the treated area until completely healed
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS
Day 1: Swelling, tenderness, and high color intensity. Don’t panic – this is normal and it will subside. You may apply ice.
Day 2: Less swelling, more tenderness, and a lot of dryness. Don’t touch your lips! Apply ointment.
Day 3-7: Lips will begin to end the process of peeling, and color will lighten by 30%-70%. Do not pick or rub your lips and let the peeling happen naturally. Continue to keep lips moist!
Week 2: Lips are done peeling, color is light. You may return to normal routines. Lips will continue to heal, up to 6 weeks. Every week more color will surface/darken.
Week 6-8: Your lips are healed and you’re feeling unstoppable!!! Just add some lip gloss and go! In most causes it requires two treatments to complete the lip transformation.
Week 8-10: You’re ready for your touch-up appointment.
